Yeah, I wrote that I wasn’t “really familiar” with Sean Cody (in comparison to people who subscribe and visit the site regularly) but like any good gay horndog with an overweening interest in a variety of porn, I went BACK to SC, read reviews and customer feedback, and watched a lot of the scenes from free online sites. Not to mention the various updates and commentary here and at justusboys (I’ve been following them much longer than I’ve been commenting). I caught up real fast.

I’m no expert, but I can recognize a revealing trendline when I see one.

If my reference to the preferences of the “core constituency” doesn’t include you, then you shouldn’t find offense with my observation (and goody for you that you “got” what I was saying because I wasn’t trying to be subtle). That observation was tantamount to someone pointing a finger at a very large group of men and saying, “That man over there is a rapist.” It is very probable that only a real rapist would suddenly begin to sweat, look around wildly and then begin to loudly and belligerently disavow the claim. An innocent man is confident in his own mind of his motives, actions and the truth of his beliefs.

As to what qualities I believe would MAKE Julio “authentically” ethnic, my answer is none. Not one. But if you ask me if there are some qualities, traits and characteristics that are more readily found in certain cultures and ethnicities and whether I’d prefer to see Julio with his dark mane grown out, his body hair full and thick, and his skin browned and tanned, then I unabashedly say “yes.” And if Sean Cody coiffed, manscaped, primped, and preened this man just to make him a more suitable addition to its usual stable of interchangeable models, then I say shame!

Yes, I want to see this beauty in a more natural and unaffected state. The real question is whether that “core constituency” at Sean Cody would still welcome and embrace him.

I never wrote or implied any such thing. But if a company makes the decision to feature/employ/use ethnic models, why try to nullify, de-emphasize, or minimize those very qualities that might make them distinctive or different? Why go to such lengths to mold them into one idealized standard of male beauty?

As if the porn world isn’t degrading, patronizing and humiliating enough as it is!!
