I don’t read any malice in the distortion, but “Be grateful you have work” is not at all what I said. I did not use the second person pronoun — I used the first person to express my preference: “I don’t dispute any of [Scrapple’s criticisms]. But on a ranked list …” of political offenses, for ME, getting to see black actors regularly is preferable to giving all- or mostly white companies a pass which is what most of us do every day here. We are only talking about this because he did something provocative, and I am only saying that for me and (apparently) for me alone, a whites-only track record is the more offensive thing. It is my personal preference and it has nothing to do with excusing Michael Lucas. Scrap has already said that he would rather studios not hire black actors at all than hire them and say something glib about them. I respect his opinion, but I can’t agree. Without the stupid title, this is a gorgeous scene (judging from the pics). This company promotes the beauty in black and brown men, and I will continue to enjoy that about them more than I enjoy the white shrines that CF, SC, BSB, BA, and Helix have always been.

Erasure and insult are not the only options I imagine. I think Next Door has a bit of diversity even if it is somewhat ghettoized. Kristen Bjorn has some diversity, though specifically African American men are not an apparent strength of theirs. And there are other smaller studios (including GISP, though I’ve said — unwittingly to Austin’s face — that the production values need work) that fill in the visual landscape. Scrap rebuffed my Dylan Lucas example as being too minor, so I really was not attempting to address further any studios that do not release multiple weekly updates, which is the only standard I can think of to use to separate major from minor without appearing capricious.

I did say “we” in the sentence you quoted (which, I can tell you realize is still first person), but I ended with that line really more in the spirit of a suggestion, not an imperative.

Lastly, as for early SC, that’s good to know. But with two exceptions (Bailey’s Fuck Buddy and a kitchen fuck I can never remember the name of), I don’t watch their condom scenes. I am a big big big Landon fan — I can cum just to the memory of his scene with Lane), but their record strikes me as poor in the bareback era.

I think we have inched our way toward a rapprochement (I’m not trying to be fancy — I honestly can’t think of another word for it) on this, so I won’t attempt to reply again about the Lucas incident. But if you want to continue to reply about the companies that do good work with nonwhite actors and nonlatex sex, I can talk your fucking ears off about that. Rawstrokes deserves a mention here. I found a video on a tube site once that had some of the most gorgeous black actors I have ever ever seen. I wish I could have found an HD version of it but it’s really old.

When you say that you are included in “we” (I + you), you are making an observation based on perception, not on grammar. “We” does not equal “you” from a grammatical standpoint. Google it. Or, just as effective, listen to any Trump speech since he declared his candidacy. When he says “we,” he NEVER means me. The “we”/“you” divide is always on display when the you is me. I will now abandon that point before I sound like an e.e. cummings poem.

Speaking only for myself, I will say that I thought better of Lucas before this. But I have had to rethink his inclusion of black models now based on this move.

And before Lucas says anything about the racism of other studios or their models (which I see called out on this blog often, actually), he would need to do some self-examination on why he turned BLM into a reductive joke about black cocks mattering instead of black people.

I’m so glad that the the only definition of racism is excluding others. Rosa Parks should have been happy she was on the bus at all. She was included!

And as for BLM, the point is to protest incidents in which the government treats black life as if it does not matter. When is the last time a grand jury refused to indict a black citizen who shot another black citizen who was unarmed? I’ll wait.
