I didn’t have to lol, I have lived and breathed it since I was 14. My older brother used to drag me to the gym with him , determined I was not going to be a bean pole. – I discovered sweaty half naked guys!! *sigh* The rest as they say was history. I owe it all to him, had he not made me do it, chances are SO many things in my life would have been different.

I was built pretty much as I am now by my senior year in high school. The gym was my sanctuary, when I went there I was never alone. Guys share workout regimens and info whether you like it or not. I have worked in with guys at all levels, it isn’t hard to identify the ones who know what they are doing.

So this gift he gave me will always remind me of the best of him as well. Now it’s where HB and I go to shake off the day’s stress, and find my center – and the best part, there is no down side. Guess it is my church.

I don’t know of a magic bullet, I think the more active you stay, the less you have to worry about such things. I eat well, a lot of fish, chicken occasionally a nice steak and good fresh vegetables without too much crap thrown in for empty calories. Fruits I like most are Pineapples, apples and papaya Kiwi, blueberries and such.

Between meals, nuts are a great source of protein and perfect anywhere. Peanuts, almonds, pistachios and my favorite cashews. I don’t do much by way of breads – once in a great while. Apples are a great boost, they have a slow burning sugar which is a great energy boost, and actually help burn calories. This is not to say I don’t go HAM once in a while, nice restaurants bring out the devil lol.

But if you are getting the workout in, and keeping it clean most of the time, the occasional bender will not effect you in the slightest. I have managed to survive trips to his Mom’s without gaining a pound – no easy feat cuz her cooking is off the hook and it is ALL rich as hell.

Biggest key is to get your muscle mass up, muscle burns fat. I usually do no more than 20 minutes cardio, and about an hour free weights, 6 days a week. My workouts rotate in method, you have to keep muscles confused at times.

Way more than you asked I am sure, but it is something anyone can do.

medical professional gym buff here! Just my own advice:

Actually you still have to keep fat in your diet. Don’t quit it cold turkey, just lessen the amount. Keep it in moderation because if you quit all of a sudden, your cravings will get stronger and it will bite back 2x more once you give in. The hormones, leptin and ghrelin (mostly ghrelin) are to blame for this. They balance each one out. Ghrelin will increase when you deprive your diet of fat and that would cause increased appetite while leptin, the appetite suppressant, would go lower.

Balance out your exercise and diet as well. Burn off any guilty meals you had with extra hours at the gym. Like what @@disqus_BIDJtBf3zj:disqus No_No_No_Yes said, build up muscle to burn up fat.

What I do when I cut for a competition is that I go from 100% on carbs and sweets to about 75-50% for the 1st week and go lower and lower by 25% each week until I go 0 carbs so my cravings aren’t that strong. Discipline is key here. You can do the same for summer bod preparations.
