Okay, let’s be fair about this — all three have certain limitations (granted Elye less so), and it would not be difficult to find old comments of people complaining about how boring any one of them is. (I googled it and found someone making that comment about Elye right on the NDR page, which has a comment forum like this one. Check out the negative comments on his “Hard Time” scene with Justin Matthews.)

I think all three have unrealized potential. A good director does not place the excitement burden on the performer. A performer can rescue a scene, but he should never have to. It’s just that we live in an age now where whatever talent there is exists primarily in front of the camera, not behind it.

I believe NDS allows performers to bring limitations into scenes. So I get what you’re saying about the talent behind the camera, with their minimal expectations and apparently hands-off direction. Whatever excitement scenes have does fall to models making for inconsistent updates. However, if production insists all models work at the level of Dante Martin and Dalton Riley, I bet 3/4ths of the roster would disappear.

I checked out Dacotah Red’s twitter. He’s enthusiastic about his scenes so I wonder why it fails to come across. Is it poor direction? Maybe he believes he’s at the top of his game and NDS scenes are as good as Raging Stallion or LucasEnt?
