I don’t know about you, but the clown show that porn acting has become is very alienating for me. This is a drastic step up in quality.

– Sailor in the Wild. If I knew you personally, I would buy this dvd for you. I’m that in love with it. The tube sites have such a loss in video quality (all of these movies were shot on film with live sound, a huge expense for that era) that even though you can probably google and find these titles, it won’t rival seeing it in full resolution if you can somehow find that. And on a TV, not a phone.

I try very hard not to think about it because I encountered those films before I knew of that practice. But yeah, once you know that they did that sort of thing and once you know the mastur-piece between David’s legs, it’s impossible to unsee him pretending to be a variety of guys. As you imply, it’s almost hotter knowing it was him, but I’m loyal to the fantasies in the storylines!

I feel exactly the same way about that ranger scene. There are few scenes in the history of porn that unfold more gradually and achingly without losing momentum. And you know I have bareback on the brain 24/7, but this is a moment in porn history when you know that two guys in the woods and one is rimming the other one means that the next step is to shove that dick in there with nothing but spit for lube. I mean that is pretty much why anyone who has seen Brokeback Mountain never stops thinking about that scene in the tent. It’s so primitive.

Speaking of which, there’s a scene in that movie that is simply a plot device, and yet it’s as hot as anything I’ve ever scene. The two guys, the sailor being one of the two, end up fucking while the other guys are sleeping. And the tension between trying to be discreet while also fucking in the open and not giving a shit about getting caught (which mirrors what happened at the beginning of the film that caused the sailor to question his own sexuality when waking up and catching Leo Ford going at it) is just mind blowing.

This great erotic creativity (in terms of story, camera-is-alive videography, and direction) just doesn’t compute when it’s supposedly the same William Higgins that is responsible for the supremely UN-creative Czech material. Maybe there was some additional crew who made huge contributions to Higgins’ heady early classics. Or maybe he has really had no actual involvement in making the Czech porn.
