Notice Bel Ami doesn’t use Chagall anymore. Tell me, how is it possible for someone or some group to trademark a last name? I’m no attorney nor legal scholar and my memory is bad but seems like Duroy claimed that some group in France, was it?, made some legal claim to the name Chagall and forced Bel Ami to stop using it. Even if French law supports this claim, who cares about France? Bel Ami doesn’t exist or operate in France and the rest of the world could give two shits about Jean-Daniel having the last name Chagall.

The French were probably upset that a Euro-porn model should have the same name as the artiste, Marc Chagall, who painted the ceiling of L’Opera in Paris.

I know this post is old af, but the notion that you think you have any privacy as a porn star is silly, especially if you’re a big pornstar with fanfare everywhere. Actually, I think it was unclear from his tweet whether or not he was outted. It was clear that someone sent his friends and family pictures of his gay porn work, which understandably would be most disconcerting to have happen.

I simply stated elsewhere that if he, having been in the gay porn industry for going on ten years now, had not told his friends and family about his career, I would be surprised and that it would be most wise to inform one’s friends and family on one’s own terms and in one’s own way rather than wait on the ticking time bomb of someone else informing them for you. Duroy and his Bel Ami brothers should be sharing this prudent and realistic advice with all of their models.
